IBLF believes that there is great potential for multinational businesses to work with social entrepreneurs in promoting economic development and sustainable enterprise.
By leveraging core competencies and collaborating in the development of market-based products and/or services, which unleash local enterprise opportunities and tackle development challenges, social entrepreneurs can be key strategic allies for business.
IBLF will be exploring the existing partnerships between business and social entrepreneurs, as well as the new hybrid business models that are emerging in the area of enterprise development. We will seek to promote good practice examples to be further replicated.
At the World Skoll Forum 2008, IBLF co-hosted workshops with SustainAbility on Strategic Partnerships between Multinationals and Social Entrepreneurs and applied our partnering expertise to the social enterprise domain. The workshops looked at the drivers and challenges of partnering and how to overcome these in each stage of IBLF's partnering cycle. In the run up to this Forum, and in collaboration with Socialedge (sponsored by the Skoll Foundation), we also hosted an introductory online discussion on this topic.
In July 2007, as part of our Annual Summer Meeting in London, IBLF brought together a group of social entrepreneurs and business leaders to discuss the opportunities for partnerships and the needs and expectations from both parties.
