IBLF's programmes in this area:

Business and Health

At IBLF, we work across the sectors to develop industry specific health frameworks. We are a key partner of the Pan American Health Organisation’s (PAHO) Pan American Forum for Action against Chronic Disease. IBLF also co-convenes cross-sector forums to promote awareness on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and authored 'Many Healthy Returns', a specialist report on the private sector’s role in combating NCDs. Contact Yvonne Halsey at yvonne.halsey@iblf.org to find out more.

IBLF seeks to increase engagement between the private sector and other stakeholders on water issues and promote a legitimate role for business in sound public water management. In partnership with the UN Global Compact CEO Water Mandate, we are developing the Water Action Hub, a publicly available interactive, online tool that will enable companies to identify appropriate partners for collaboration on water-related projects in specific regions. It will also benefit stakeholders by providing access to relevant data and helping reduce water related business risk. Contact Stephen Kenzie at stephen.kenzie@iblf.org to find out more.

Companies are facing growing pressure to devise and communicate clear policies on their marketing activities so customers can become better educated consumers. IBLF is a partner in a consortium led by the National Heart Forum to look at developing a set of Voluntary Principles to underpin all forms of marketing of food to children, particularly where established, mandatory, self or co-regulatory regimes do not exist. This work has been commissioned by England’s Department of Health. Contact Yvonne Halsey at yvonne.halsey@iblf.org to find out more.

"I am convinced of the important role played by IBLF – it is a unique place where you can bring together multinational companies with society and NGOs, because nobody alone can solve the problems society is confronting"
