The environment is a key issue for companies seeking to improve their sustainability.
The impact of climate change is a complex topic but there is little doubt among the scientific, government and business communities that it is a threat of growing proportions where business is seen as at the heart both of the problem and the solution.
Business leaders are recognising that not only does business have a moral obligation to respond to this danger, but also that climate change has the potential to have huge impacts on business operations and liabilities.
In 2008 IBLF is running Business and the Environment in Russia initiative. The aim of the series of round tables will be to bring together senior executives of leading Russian and multinational companies to exchange experience and best practices on how companies can manage their environmental policies and position themselves to meet the social, legal and economic challenges of the next few years.
The round-tables will be the main vehicle for exchange of information on management, strategies and policies. The results of the discussions will be further disseminated by a publication of case studies which will be distributed widely throughout the business and government communities.
Overall, the aim is to create a network of business leaders and senior executives interested to contribute to, and learn from, such exchanges about the environment. Our goal is to increase business decision-makers’ awareness of the risks and opportunities of environmental management and to spread this awareness throughout the business community.
