ABOUT US

IBLF's Digital Partnership is a programme which provides affordable access to technology and training. By expanding access to information and communication technology, the aim of the programme is to assist socio-economic development in both developing and developed countries.

IBLF brings a wide range of stakeholders together to contribute resources, technology, educational content, and technical assistance to help achieve the goals of Digital Partnership.

Digital Partnership provides a platform for a wide range of stakeholders to contribute resources, technology, educational content, and technical assistance.  By linking systems and organisations that do not naturally collaborate into effective new partnerships across sectors and countries, the Digital Partnership assists socio-economic development by expanding access to information and communication technology (ICT).

IBLF launched its Digital Partnership programme in South Africa in 2001 with the support of the World Bank, Vodacom Foundation, RSA Department of Communications, and other partners.  Pioneering a unique model for affordable ICT access through technology reuse, business engagement, and innovative cross-sector partnerships, Digital Partnership is a sustainable strategy to bring technology to the task of poverty alleviation and development.

To date Digital Partnership is the largest scale sustainable partnership for affordable ICT access in Africa. Over 10,000 PCs have been placed to date, benefiting over 400 schools, 450 libraries and community projects, and building local capacity for affordable access strategies.
